The diverse team at Crisp requests flexible benefits.

Online supermarket Crisp has grown enormously in recent years and wanted to introduce an attractive package of secondary employment benefits that fits the ever-growing and diversifying workforce. From developers and creatives to warehouse workers and their super-fast deliverers, everyone has different wishes and needs.
The challenge of a diverse workforce
Crisp faced a common problem: how do you offer benefits that all employees, regardless of their role or employment type, appreciate and find useful? The workforce is diverse, not only in terms of function but also in terms of employment status. It consists of both full-time and part-time employees, many of whom work on flexible contracts. This diversity makes it challenging to create a uniform package of benefits.
A fresh solution
Crisp implemented the Alleo app to tackle this challenge. After a kick-off meeting on-site and promotion at the Crisp office, such as posters in the warehouse, the app was well received by the employees. The Alleo app enabled Crisp to offer a range of benefits tailored to different roles within their workforce.
Office heroes: how Crisp’s young professionals spend their benefits
The office employees at Crisp mainly consist of young professionals aged 25 to 35 who live in Amsterdam. The most chosen benefits among this group are donations to Giro 555, massages, and wellness through Treatwell, as well as gift cards from Coolblue and Zalando. These employees are characterized by their mission-driven mentality and curiosity. Generally, they have a higher salary and a larger budget for benefits.
Warehouse heroes: how our employees choose their benefits
The warehouse workers mainly consist of order pickers and delivery workers with flexible contracts and a higher turnover. Their benefits approach includes a fixed budget of €17.50 plus 1% of their salary above €1750, which is paid out quarterly. The most chosen benefits among this group are gift cards from Zalando, Coolblue, Pathé, Bijenkorf, and Crisp. Warehouse workers prefer quickly accessible benefits due to their smaller and more frequently available budgets.
How the Alleo App Made a Difference
The Alleo app proved to be an effective solution that suited the diverse needs of Crisp's employees. Office employees often chose benefits that aligned with their values and mission, such as donations to Giro 555, while warehouse workers preferred quickly accessible benefits like vouchers that could be used monthly.
Looking ahead, Crisp aims to further tailor the benefits to the specific wishes of office and warehouse employees. With separate packages for both groups, the company hopes to make the benefits even more relevant and achievable for everyone. The goal? A happier team, where employees in both the office environment and the warehouse get exactly what they need. And who knows, maybe soon there will even be a little extra for a fun Friday afternoon drink or a team activity – because at Crisp, there is always room for a bit of extra fun!
